Original Art
Most of my work is in acrylic. I also sometimes incorporate other materials like oil pastels and graphite.
I generally release new work in collections 3-4 times a year. The best way to stay informed of new releases is to sign up for my newsletter and follow along on Instagram.
All of my art is sold unframed, but I do offer framing options you can select at checkout. Framing is done by a local professional framer and turnaround time for framing is 4-5 weeks from order date, but often sooner.
I now offer framing services for both originals and prints that you can add when you place an order, but if you'd rather do it yourself, my go-to spots in Edmonton are:
All artwork and products are measured in inches unless otherwise stated.
I try my best to make sure the colours represented online are as close as possible to the actual product. However, because your screen monitor may be different than mine, I can't guarantee they'll be exact. If you need more pictures of a specific piece, just let me know. I'd be happy to send more!
Not at this time. Sorry!
I retain all rights to all artwork I create. This includes the rights to the image of sold and commissioned original paintings. The collector or buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission. When you purchase an original painting you, the collector, have the right to display the artwork in your home or business but the artwork may not be resold or reproduced without my written permission.
Fine Art Prints
A fine art print is also known as a giclee print or archival print. This means it is printed with the best quality archival inks on to archival card to produce a never-fading, museum-quality print that will last a lifetime. Read this post to learn more.
Canvas material naturally has a slightly woven texture, but there is no texture intentionally added to the canvas prints. They're printed the same way as any other print.
Yes, it can be treated like any other print. You can frame it with or without glass, or you can have it stretched at the framers and display it without glass. Options!

Payment
All of the orders on my website are processed through PayPal, but do not require a PayPal account. You can check out as a guest. PayPal allows you to make payments using various methods, including but not limited to debit or credit cards, a bank account, and PayPal Credit. You can also use an Amy Dixon Art Gift Card to pay for your order.
If you'd like to pay with e-transfer, please email me directly.
Yes! I love gift cards.
Gift cards are available through my online shop and can be redeemed for anything available to purchase on my website. Gift cards are just like cash, they have no transaction fees and never expire.
All gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be transferred, exchanged or resold. Gift cards cannot be redeemed for cash. For security reasons, we are not able to look up your gift card number and therefore it cannot be replaced if it are lost or stolen. Sales tax will be applied to purchases made with a gift card and the total of the transaction will be deducted from the gift card balance.
Amy Dixon Art Gift Cards are only available in Canadian Dollars.
I’m happy to now offer payment plans designed to make it easy and more affordable for everyone to buy and collect original art by allowing you to spread payments out over a reasonable time period.
How It Works
- A 25% deposit is required. Then the purchase price plus applicable taxes/shipping can be divided into equal payments spread over up to 3 months. Payment by e-transfer or credit card can be arranged.
- Once the first payment is made, I will mark the painting as "Sold" online.
- There are no extra fees or interest.
- Once the painting is paid for in full, it will be shipped out.
Ready to get started?
Send me an e-mail with:
- Your name, mailing address and phone number
- the title of the painting you'd like to purchase
- the term you'd like to pay it over (2-3 months)
I'll send you a contract and an invoice for the 25% deposit :)
Note: Payment plans are not available during collection launch advance access periods. Payment plans are not available for commissions or art prints.
Yes! Send me an email with the details of what you would like to purchase and we can arrange for payment through bank e-transfer.
Sorry, discount codes can’t be applied to an order retroactively.
Commissions
Simply put, a commission painting is a fancy way of saying that we work one-on-one to create a special painting just for you.
I only accept a few commissions per year to allow myself time to balance painting custom work with other projects. When I accept commission requests, I always post on Instagram and share it with my newsletter subscribers. You can check if commissions are open here.
I like this question! Typically, my most common type of commission are variations of past work.
No, I want to respect all artists and their work, and this doesn't align with that.
Instead, I'd suggest looking at my past work and finding a piece to serve as inspiration.
I like to ensure that each client's piece is original, so I never set out to exactly replicate a painting. However, I'm happy to create a different version of an existing painting that is similar yet unique. We can bring your idea to life without replicating another painting!
No, sorry! My process is quite intuitive, therefore creating a sketch to adhere to doesn't allow me to do my best work. However, before starting a painting, we chat about important details to include in the piece, the overall composition, colours, and other paintings of mine that you like. All of this information combined allows me to bring our vision to life.
Of course, that's the joy of creating a custom painting! We can play with colours, composition, scale... I'm open to any ideas within the scope of my style and subject matters I paint.
The easiest way to find the ideal sized painting for you is to measure your space and tape the dimensions of the painting you're considering with painters tape. I'm happy to provide feedback and suggestions on the size if you send a few photos of your space where your future painting will live.
You can also use my Sizing Guide to get the perfect size for your space.
The commission process is iterative and when I send along progress photos, we can chat about any changes (colours, small composition changes) you desire. When the painting is complete, there is another opportunity to make small changes before the painting is varnished. Once the painting is approved, signed and varnished, there can be no changes made.
Potentially! It depends on a number of factors (my commission schedule, the size and complexity of the painting). Please include the date you need it by in your initial request and we can discuss. Generally speaking, having a bit of a flexible schedule is best when it comes to custom paintings.
Once you have signed the commission contract, I will send you an invoice for 50% of the total price. The invoice allows for payment through credit card, but if you'd like to pay by e-transfer, that works too! Once the painting is complete, you'll receive an invoice for the remaining 50%.
There are lots of great artists who do portraits, but that's not something I paint. Please take a look at my Previous Collections or Instagram account to get a sense of my painting style.
Other
I love to collaborate with other creatives. I'd love to hear more. Please email me at info@amydixon.ca with your idea.
Yes, I do wholesale some products. Check out my wholesale page for more information.
No, sorry! This is not a service I offer.
Typically, no. I don't usually have many paintings in my studio available between collection releases.
Supporting my community is very important to me and I collaborate and give back to several charities each year. However, as an independent artist and small business owner, my resources are limited. I wish I could support everything! If you have an idea, feel free to email me with the details.
Please note:
- I don't do live painting.
- I don't donate original art to silent auctions.
- I am generally more interested in supporting causes that support underserved populations in Alberta.
