2026 Commissions

Commission requests are now open until january 25

Commissioning an original painting is a collaborative and thoughtful process. My commissions are a great fit for collectors who already feel connected to my work and are looking for a one of a kind piece that captures both place and feeling.

While I would truly love to paint every request that comes in, I only take on a small number of commissions each year so I can give each piece the time, care, and attention it deserves.

Step One

Choose a Size

I currently accept commissions for larger scale paintings only. Commissioned works begin at 36 x 48 inches and above.

Choosing the right size is often guided by the space where the painting will live and the feeling you’d like the piece to bring into that space. Larger paintings allow for more movement, depth, and presence, which is central to my work. If you’re unsure about what size would best suit your space, I recommend taping out a few different sizes on your wall with painters tape to better visualize how it will look. You can also take a look at my Sizing Guide for help.

Some popular painting sizes to consider: 36x48 inches, 48x48 inches, 48x60 inches, 36x60 inches, 24x72 inches, 30x72 inches, 36x84 inches.

Pricing begins at $4,200 CAD for 36 x 48 inch works. Larger pieces are priced based on size and complexity.

A non refundable deposit of 50 percent is required to secure your spot in my commission calendar. The remaining balance is due prior to shipping or delivery.

Step Two

define the vision

To get started, you’ll fill out the commission inquiry form below with a few initial details about your project, such as preferred size, timeline, and the overall feeling you’re drawn to.

If the project feels like a good fit, I’ll share a commission agreement outlining the scope, timeline, and payment details.

Once those are in place, we’ll schedule a video call to talk through your vision in more detail. This conversation helps us land on a clear direction while still leaving room for the painting to evolve naturally.

I work from reference images, memories, and mood rather than creating exact photographic replicas. This allows for interpretation and ensures the final painting feels cohesive with my broader body of work.

As you’re thinking about your commission, notice which of my paintings you’re most drawn to and what you love about them. It could be the colours, texture, or subject. I’m also happy to take inspiration from a special photo you’ve personally taken. Feel free to include any of this in your submission.

Step Three

The painting process

Once the deposit is received and details are confirmed, your commission is added to my studio schedule.

My painting process is intuitive and layered. I will share progress photos midway throught he process, but I do not offer preliminary sketches or multiple rounds of revisions. Feedback is most helpful early in the process, before the painting is fully developed.

Minor refinements can be made near completion, but major compositional changes are not possible once the painting has progressed beyond a certain stage.

This process tends to work best when there’s trust on both sides and openness to creative interpretation.

Step Four

timeline

I accept commission requests once a year and schedule them throughout the year. This means that while a contract and deposit may be completed earlier in the year, the painting itself may be scheduled to begin later.

For example, a commission could be confirmed with a deposit in January, with the painting scheduled to begin in September. This approach allows me to plan my studio time carefully and give each piece the focus it deserves.

Once I begin painting, most commissions take approximately 8 to 12 weeks to complete. The exact timeline can vary depending on size, complexity, and my studio schedule.

The call to discuss your painting in detail is scheduled closer to when I am preparing to begin the work. This helps ensure the conversation feels timely and the details are fresh as I move into the painting phase.

If you are working toward a specific deadline, please mention this early so we can determine whether it is feasible.

Step Five

completion and delivery

Once the painting is complete, I’ll share final images for your review. The remaining balance is due prior to shipping or delivery.

Paintings are shipped unframed unless otherwise discussed and are carefully packaged for safe transport.

All paintings are created using professional grade acrylic paints on gallery wrapped canvas and are finished with a protective varnish. Each piece is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Step Six

additional details

The purchase of a commissioned painting includes ownership of the physical artwork. Copyright and reproduction rights remain with the artist. This allows me to share images of the work on my website and social channels.

Commissions are a great fit if you feel connected to my existing work and are open to artistic interpretation. If you’re looking for a highly prescriptive or exact reproduction, my commissions may not be the right fit.
