June—Summerland, B.C.

June—Summerland, B.C.

So. Much. Colour.

It may be raining (a lot) in Edmonton as June enters, but I can feel the heat coming. I think. Last year around this time, I was in Summerland, B.C. soaking up as much sun and views as I could while preparing for my Solstice collection. This view, from the top of Giant's Head Mountain Park, is absolutely stunning.

The patchwork fields stretched out far below my tiny easel and each one seemed to snatch a different colour of the spectrum. Yellows and pinks sat alongside greens and blues in the sort of harmony you'd only find in a handmade quilt.

It was a struggle pulling so many different paints out while on the trail, but I made it work, and I was able to create a piece that feels like it not only represents the area well, but represents it in my style, which I'm always happy to achieve.

If you'd like to see the view yourself, here's a quick little video that shows me painting and a bit of drone footage of the area. See you next month!
