Until July 31st, 100% of the proceeds from my Pyramid Mountain print (any size) will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal.
I was 10 years old when I experienced Jasper for the first time. My family walked its lush forest trails and stared up at mountains we could hardly comprehend. When you get close enough to a mountain, it fills everything you can see. For a brief moment, it can be your entire world. Just like the sky. Just like the sea. There are only a few ways to feel small and made humble and standing at the base of mountains is one of them.
Since then, Alberta has become my home and I stare up at the same mountains with the same absolute wonder. They do not change. They’re constants. They’re reminders of family, friends, and a sense of home. They’re memories and aspirations. My heart aches to see it burn and to watch families and businesses flee from this singular place they call home.
Like many of you, I feel overwhelmed and helpless. I’m not a firefighter. I’m not a first responder. I’m not a pilot, a facilities coordinator, a dispatcher, or any of the hundreds of people who are bravely assisting in putting out fires and helping the people who need it.
I’m an artist. I make art. I paint landscapes and with yet another one threatened, I’m asking myself what I can do to help in its recovery for those of us who know its beauty and for those who have yet to experience it.
To start, until July 31st, I’ll be donating 100% of the proceeds from any purchase of my Pyramid Mountain print (any size) to the Canadian Red Cross 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal.
Several of you have already made this purchase today, which tells me it’s heavy on a lot of our minds. Don’t worry, I’ll include those purchases in the donation too.
It’s going to be a long time before this is behind us, so let’s make what’s ahead of us a little better for those who need it most. Thank you.
